The Los Angeles Lakers were without LeBron James for one more game. Even with James out, the Lakers defeated the New York Knicks 101-99 in Overtime. Talen Horton-Tucker hit a HUGE go-ahead three-pointer with 21 seconds to go in Overtime to lift the Lakers to victory over the Knicks. The Lakers are playing with a sense of urgency as they look to avoid playing in the Play-In game. The Lakers figure, why stand on the cliff if you don’t have to right away? If the Lakers can avoid the Play-In game this bodes well for them. That way they can focus solely on whoever their first-round opponent will be. Coach Frank Vogel was proud of his team’s performance and especially proud of Talen Horton-Tucker aka THT.
“He’s got big guts and he showed that with that shot,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. “He had a young player type of night with good and bad plays. He kept his poise though and remained confident.”
Other Lakers players stepped up big in the victory over the Knicks. Kyle Kuzma who was back in the lineup after missing the previous game with back soreness, stepped up huge. Kuzma scored 23 points on 9 of 17 shooting and 33 minutes of play. Anthony Davis scored 20 points in 43 minutes of play. He also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Andre Drummond scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
The Lakers play against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, 5/12. The game is at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tip-off is at 10:30 pm Eastern/7:30 pm Pacific.
