The league has handed Kevin Porter Jr. a $50,000 fine for violating the league’s Health and Safety Protocols.
Porter, who was traded from the Cavs to the Rockets earlier this year, apparently went into a club when the Houston visited Miami earlier this month, something that clearly violated the league’s anti-COVID-19 measures. Players are not permitted to attend gatherings of 15 or more people and they are strictly prohibited from entering bars, clubs, and similar places.
The incident was the same one where teammate Sterling Brown was assaulted. Brown, who was injured in the assault, was not fined, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.
Brown hasn’t played since early April. Porter missed three games while in the league’s health in safety protocol, returning on Tuesday vs. the Timberwolves. He’s averaging 15.2 points and 6.2 assists per contest through 22 games with his new team.
