The Raptors are telling teams that they will not trade Kyle Lowry, sources tell Josh Lewenberg of TSN.com. It’s unclear whether Toronto is simply trying to drive a hard bargain for the soon-to-be 35-year-old point guard or if they have come to the conclusion that they will keep him on the roster through the 2021 NBA trade deadline.
The Heat were among the teams that had discussions with Toronto about Lowry. Those talks were centered around Goran Dragic heading to the Raptors.
There were rumors that Lowry, who will be a free agent this summer, was telling fellow players that he expected to be traded earlier in the month, though the veteran came out to deny those reports.
Lowry turns 35 later this month and he continues to showcase his ability at his late age. He’s averaging 18.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while knocking down 40.3% of his threes.
