The Los Angeles Lakers have seen enough of Damian Jones to know that they want to see more.
As relayed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers are signing the 6-foot-11 center to a second 10-day contract.
Jones is averaging 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds on the season, and is viewed as sort of a stopgap as the Lakers look to somehow land another veteran center. On the bright side for Jones, he is getting a little longer to make his case.
Jones was released by the Phoenix Suns in late February after signing a partially guaranteed two-year deal during the offseason. He appeared in just 14 games with the Suns, averaging less than 7 minutes a night.
Jones has also spent time with the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks. He was the No. 30 overall pick in the 2016 draft.
The Lakers (24-13) enter the second half of the season in third place in the Western Conference. They trail the Pacific Division-leading Phoenix Suns by a game.
There has been talk that the Lakers are confident they can land veteran center Andre Drummond should he reach a contract buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The NBA trade deadline is March 25.
