The Brooklyn Nets are signing free agent center/forward Noah Vonleh, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Vonleh, 25, is 6-foot-10 and appeared in seven games with the Denver Nuggets last season, as well as 29 with the Minnesota Timberwolves before that. He has also spent time with the Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Hornets.
The Nets are in search of help up front after trading away center Jarrett Allen (to Cleveland) as part of the four-team James Harden deal. They recently signed center Norvel Pelle and shooting guard Iman Shumpert, and the addition of Vonleh will give them a full 15-man roster for the first time in nearly a month.
Charania didn’t specify what time of contract Vonleh will receive, but it is undoubtedly something that will give the Nets some roster flexibility. Word is, they still would like to a veteran big with playoff experience — and have recently been linked to Cavaliers center JaVale McGee, a possibility first mentioned by FortyEightMinutes.
Vonleh averaged 3.7 points and 3.4 rebounds last season. He reportedly had been drawing interest from the G League prior to reaching agreement with Brooklyn, per Blake Murphy of The Athletic.
The Nets (14-11) visit the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.
