The Los Angeles Lakers concluded their almost two-week-long road trip with a win in Atlanta, defeating the Hawks 107-99 in State Farm Arena.
The star duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis led the Lakers, and that seems to be the usual. However, the Lakers were able to play and get some slight pushback because there were fans in the stands. James has a history of turning things up a notch when fans heckle him and this game was no different.
“Fans in the stands is just better,” James said with a smirk on his face.
There was a fan who James called “Courtside Karen” and who appeared to get on his case. She was then ejected from the arena but even James felt that penalty was too harsh. In his eyes, that’s just a part of the game.
“At the end of the day, I’m just happy fans are back in the building,” he said. “I missed that interaction. I need that interaction.”
This interaction with the disgruntled fan sparked a 16-0 run at the end of the quarter for the Lakers. The Hawks came back at the end of the fourth but the Lakers opened things up again at the end of the game and were able to finish with a 107-99 victory.
The Lakers finished this 7 game road trip with a 5-2 record. It’s safe to say that this trip was a test that the Lakers passed.
