The Brooklyn Nets are signing free agent center/forward Norvel Pelle, agent BJ Bass told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Pelle, 27, is 6-foot-10 and appeared in 20 games with the Philadelphian 76ers last season, averaging 2.1 points and 3.0 rebounds.
Pelle was eligible for the NBA draft in 2014 but did not get drafted. He is of Antiguan/Lebanese descent and has spent the majority of his pro career either overseas or with Delaware of the G League.
The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Pelle to an Exhibit 10 contract last month, presumably so he could join the Canton Charge. But joining the Nets would clearly upstage heading to the G League bubble.
Pelle proved to be an accomplished protector of the paint with the Delaware Blue Coats last season, averaging almost 3.0 blocked shots per game.
The Nets recently traded center Jarrett Allen to the Cavs, so there may be a real opportunity for Pelle to get some minutes behind starter DeAndre Jordan.
The star-studded Nets are just getting rolling with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. They face the Cavs for the second time in three nights Friday at Cleveland.
Assuming Pelle signs, the Nets will still have two open roster spots. At least one will need to be filled by next weekend.
