The G League’s Long Island Nets have hired veteran NBA assistant Bret Brielmaier as head coach, the team announced.
Brielmaier spent the previous four seasons as an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets. Before that, he spent three years with the Cavaliers, serving as an assistant under Tyronn Lue during the 2016 championship season.
“Bret has been an integral part of the Nets family for the past four seasons, and we are thrilled that he’ll be coaching the Long Island Nets,” Log Island general manager Matt Riccardi said in a statement. “His experience and vision are a perfect fit for leading the development of emerging players on Long Island, and we are eager to see the growth he inspires in our next generation of Nets talent.”
Brielmaier began his career as a player development coordinator with the Spurs in 2009.
Long Island is among the teams expected to take part in the G League bubble in early February.
