Wendell Carter Jr. is taking on a slightly different role under Billy Donovan, spacing the floor with an emphasis on expanding his game via the three-pointer. Through two preseason games, it hasn’t gone that well. WCJ has made just 4-for-18 of his attempts through the first two preseason games, including 1-for-9 from behind the arc. Still, his new coach remains confident in him.
“Wendell Carter Jr is a winning player,” Donovan said (via the team). “He has a lot of high qualities. Winning is very important to him. When he isn’t performing well, he takes that very seriously. I have a lot of confidence and believe in him.”

- Could the Bulls be a sneaky James Harden trade destination? Sam Smith of NBA.com doesn’t envision a trade occurring but detailed the kind of trade package that would make sense for Chicago to offer. Sending Otto Porter Jr. and three future first-rounders to Houston for Harden could be the starting point, however, that kind of deal wouldn’t put the former MVP in a position where he could win, something that may not make him any happier in Chicago than he currently is down in Texas.
- Thaddeus Young didn’t suit up in Sunday night’s matchup against the Rockets (nor did on Friday) because of a lower leg infection. There is no timetable for the veteran forward to make his season debut.
- Zach LaVine believes Bulls fans are “going to see a more competitive and well-rounded team” this season (via Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore). Lavine led Chicago to their first preseason win on Sunday night, scoring 23 points on 14 attempts from the field.
