The Washington Wizards returned home Friday night for their home opener and their second game overall of the season. Their opponent, the Chicago Bulls were in town. The Wizards continued their winning ways defeating the Bulls 102-100 to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
Bradley Beal finished the game with 19 points on 9 for 14 shooting from the field. He knocked down 1 for 2 from behind the three-point stripe. Beal also grabbed a rebound and dished out eight assists. No points were bigger than the two Beal hit with 7.4 seconds left in the fourth quarter. There was a hectic sequence where DeMar Derozan got a steal and a fast-break dunk to tie game at 100. Beal came back down the next play and hit a bank shot from mid-range to give the Wizards the lead 102-100. Beak spoke postgame about him taking and making the game winning shot.
“I told myself, I’m going to get a shot, I’m going to make the shot,” Beal said.
Beal also spoke about not being the leading scorer for this particular game. Kyle Kuzma led the Wizards in scoring this game with 26 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
“Don’t get it twisted, I’ll still go off for 30, 40 and 50 if I need to,” Beal said. “I have teammates who can score the ball and make plays too.”
