The Oklahoma City Thunder have had a relatively easy offseason, as they’ve made draft picks, retained players, and now have to work on cutting down the roster.
Lu Dort was a restricted free agent but signed back with the Thunder on a five-year, $87.5 million deal.
Mike Muscala’s team option was declined but later returned on a veteran’s minimum contract.
With a roster well exceeding the player limit, the Thunder Ywill need to shed a few players before next season. The movement began with the waiving of Isaiah Roby, whose contract would have been guaranteed if not waived by July 3rd.
The Thunder picked up Roby’s option to buy time with their decision but ultimately decided to waive him.

Where the roster stands now, expect more players to be traded/cut outright before the start of next season. Sam Presti mentioned that he and JaMychal Green are working together on a trade suitor for Green. More bench players towards the end/out of the rotation are expected to me on the move as well.
Lineup note: The starting lineup of Gilgeous-Alexander – Giddey – Dort – Bazley – Holmgren has incredible defensive potential to piggyback off a very solid defensive season last season.
