The Golden State Warriors were able to start the season with a great win over the Lakers, 121-114. They were able to do so despite big efforts from Lakers Superstars James and Davis. Both players performed brilliantly through the first three quarters. They went cold in the fourth quarter and this allowed the Warriors to steal a victory on the Lakers’ home court. LeBron James scored 34 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. Anthony Davis scored 33 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. There were no other Lakers who reached double figures.
Stephen Curry had himself a big night. He notched a triple double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. He didn’t have the best night shooting from the field. He was only shot of 5 out of 21 from the field. He also only hit 2 out of 8 from the three-point line. However, he made up for his poor shooting night by hitting the glass and dishing out timely assists to lead his Warriors to victory. Stephen Curry didn’t feel like he played his best tonight. Stating, “Obviously I played like trash.” However, his Head Coach, Steve Kerr feels like his deep roster was able to take up the slack for Curry to help get the win.
“It feels like 5-6 years ago, when we had guys up and down the roster that could play … I think we’re really deep.” Being able to get a balanced effort from multiple guys in the starting lineup and off the bench was instrumental in getting a win in the Staples Center over the Lakers.
