The Golden State Warriors continue to hold trade talks centered on the No. 2 overall pick heading into next Thursday’s draft, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.
The Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks are among the candidates to try to make a deal with the Warriors, Givony added. The Bulls own the fourth overall pick, the Pistons the seventh and the Knicks the eighth.
A player and a pick may be enough to convince the Warriors to move down. Along with the No. 2 pick, the Warriors could also add a veteran player in exchange.
It is widely believed the Warriors will selected Memphis center James Wiseman if they end up keeping the pick. The Minnesota Timberwolves own the first pick, and point guard LaMelo Ball is emerging as the top prospect — whether the Wolves keep the pick or not.
Wiseman offers the type of size and upside the Warriors are believed to be seeking this offseason. Though general manager Bob Myers and coach Steve Kerr would seemingly prefer someone with NBA playoff experience.
