Wizards center Thomas Bryant went down in the first quarter of Saturday’s contest with a left knee injury and after undergoing an MRI, its been revealed that he tore his ACL, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Bryant was averaging a career-best 14.3 points per game, adding in 6.1 rebounds and nearly a block per contest through 10 games. The big man is in the final year of his contract, paying him roughly $8.67 million this season, and he’ll be a free agent this offseason.
The Wizards will likely apply for a Disabled Player Exception, as ESPN’s Bobby Marks tweets. If granted, Washington would have roughly half of Bryant’s salary to offer a current free agent or acquire a player in a trade. Washington also may opt to sit tight with Robin Lopez and Moritz Wagner as its two big men.
