The Wizards pulled off one of the bigger trades at the 2022 deadline, bringing in Kristaps Porzingis for Davis Bertans and Spencer Dinwiddie. They also made two minor trades, sending Montrezl Harrell and Aaron Holiday out reuniting with Ish Smith, and adding Vernon Carey Jr.
GM Tommy Sheppard indicated that he spoke with Bradley Beal about the moves after the fact on Thursday and that Beal was “excited” about deals. Sheppard also shared his forecast on Beal’s future with the franchise.
“I believe Bradley is going to be here moving forward. He and I have talked about it and this is where he wants to be,” Sheppard told FortyEightMinutes and other reporters via zoom on Friday.
Over the summer, we reported that Beal and the front office were aligned and Sheppard’s latest comments on the 3-time All-Star further solidified a growing belief around the league that Beal will re-sign with Washington this summer.
Sheppard also spoke at length about the Porzingis deal, explaining that the deal came together rather quickly. The former Knick comes with major injury risk, though there is no doubting the upside.
