It’s pre-draft workout season in the NBA and the Golden State Warriors are clearly doing their due diligence.
According to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, the Warriors traveled to Miami to check out Memphis center James Wiseman and Georgia shooting guard Anthony Edwards, expected to be selected in the top five of the Nov. 18 draft, and perhaps even top three.
Both players proved to be “beasts,” a source told Thompson.
This followed a report by Ethan Strauss of The Athletic that revealed the Warriors have also watched Israeli forward Deni Avdija and were “blow away” by what they saw.
The Warriors own the No. 2 pick in the draft (one spot behind Minnesota) and if they so choose, will be able to selected one of the three aforementioned. Well-traveled point guard LaMelo Ball is also said to be in the mix.
Coach Steve Kerr and GM Bob Myers were among those who made the trip, Thompson reported, with the Avdija workout taking place in Atlanta.
Thompson added that he “highly” doubts the Warriors select Avdija despite the positive reviews.
