The Golden State Warriors are hoping to hold group workouts but are awaiting approval from the City of San Francisco, a team representative told Amico Hoops.
The NBA informed teams last week that it is again allowing workouts of up to 10 players, all of whom must undergo daily testing for the novel coronavirus. Coaches and other staffers can also attend.
With the returns of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, and late-season addition of Andrew Wiggins, coach Steve Kerr and the Warriors are aiming to get in as much work as possible ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Of course, when that season will actually begin has yet to be determined. It’s been reported that the league is shooting for Dec. 22, while the players are hoping to hold off a little longer — or to Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18.
The Warriors made five appearances in the Finals from 2014-19, winning three championships in that span. But injuries and departures in free agency forced them to take a major step ack last season, when they finished with the NBA’s worst record.
They own the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft, scheduled for Nov. 18.
