Vanessa Bryant celebrated the Los Angeles Lakers’ 17th championship with her whole heart.
“Go Lakers! Wish Kobe and Gigi were here to see this,” the widow of late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant wrote in an Instagram post following the Lakers’ Finals-clinching win over the Miami Heat on Sunday.
Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others aboard his helicopter were killed when it crashed in California this past January.
Vanessa Bryant included a picture of Kobe and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka in her post. Before becoming Lakers GM, Pelinka was Kobe’s agent.
“Congratulations Uncle P! Congratulations @lakers Kobe was right, RP!” Vanessa Bryant wrote. “Stay the course – blockout the noise.”
Others also honored Kobe with heartfelt posts, including former Lakers teammate Pau Gasol.
“This one is for you brother, for you Gianna, for Vanessa, for Natalia, for Bianka and for Capri,” Gasol tweeted.
“Congratulations to the entire @Lakers team, @JeanieBuss and the Lakers family for winning the 17th championship!!”
