Tyler Herro has been putting in major work this season. Despite going through a lot of negativity throughout his Heat career Herro has kept his head down and worked. Herro has been in the middle of trade rumors throughout his entire Miami Heat career. It’s natural to hear the noise no matter how focused you try to appear. Herro has admitted that he has heard the noise and seen the rumors. He still was determined to put the work in and live with the results.
The results have been more than expected. Herro has upped his scoring average from 20.8 points per game last season to 23.9 points per game so far this season. Booting your scoring average a whole three points in your sixth season is a pretty big deal. Herro is shooting 46.7% from the field. He is also averaging 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists so far this season. His efforts have not gone unnoticed in NBA circles. So much so that he was named to his first NBA All-Star Team this year. He was named to the team by the coaches which is the ultimate sign of respect.
Herro seems ready to emerge as the undisputed leader of this Miami Heat team. He has stepped into the starting Point Guard role this season and flourished. Even with the Jimmy Butler drama this season Herro has been a steady force for the Heat. The Heat are currently sitting in eighth place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference with a 26-28 record overall.
