Virginia guard Trey Murphy III has declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, according to his personal Twitter account. He will maintain his college eligibility, which will allow him to go back to college if he goes undrafted.
The Cary, North Carolina native spent his first two collegiate seasons at Rice but transferred to Virginia ahead of the 2020-21 season.
The 6-foot-9 swingman started 20 of his 25 games this year for the Cavaliers and averaged 11.3 points per game including 43.3 percent from 3-point land.
He is currently ranked as the 42nd best prospect on ESPN’s big board, but with his shooting and size at the guard-forward position, it would hardly be a surprise if he moves up on the night of the draft.
