Despite his best efforts in rest and rehab after a deep bone bruise in his foot, Hawks star point guard Trae Young will miss Tuesday night’s Game 4 against the Bucks per ESPN’s Malika Andrews.
Andrews adds that immobility in Young’s right foot, in conjunction with significant pain, made him unable to play in the critical playoff matchup. He will continue rehabbing the injury in hopes that he can rejoin the team for Game 5, per Adrian Wonjarowski.
Atlanta heads into Game 4 down 2-1 in the series after taking a 1-0 lead in the opening game. Young’s 48-point performance led to the win, but he followed it up with a 6-of-16 night in Game 2. He dropped 35 points on Sunday and injured his foot during the contest, one in which the Hawks were defeated 113-102.
If the Hawks are to advance to the NBA Finals, they will need Young to play. In a postseason that’s featured plenty of stars suffering injuries, hopefully the third-year guard will be able to return soon.
