We’ve heard the reports and they may even be true. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors really do seem to be looking to make a move in the draft.
At least, that’s the word from noted ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
“I think both Minnesota, Golden State are looking. hey’re very open to moving those picks if they can find a deal that makes sense,” Wojnarowski said on The Putback with Ian Begley podcast.
Timberwolves executive VP Sachin Gupta recently admitted the team is likely to explore trades with the No. 1 overall pick. Expect the Warriors to do the same at No. 2.
But that may not be so easy. Per Wojnarowski, a lot of teams are content to stay right where they are. After all, in this draft, you may be able to find someone who can help your team at No. 5 as much as you can at No. 1.
Still, it never hurts to explore.
“I think for Golden State, if they’re going to move, it’s more likely in a deal where they’re bringing in perhaps a high-level player that can help them win more now,” Wojnarowski said.
“I think they’d be fine with moving down in the draft if there was a really good veteran player they could acquire. I’m not sure that deal is there for the Warriors right now.”
The NBA draft is scheduled for Nov. 18.
