The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for a power forward-type and recently had “substantive discussions” with the Orlando Magic on Aaron Gordon, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Along with Gordon, the Timberwolves have also shown an interest in John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks, Charania reported.
This is just a portion of the buzz surrounding team president Gersson Rosas and the Timberwolves heading into this week’s All-Star break. The NBA trade deadline is March 25, just weeks away.
Gordon, 25, recently injured his ankle, which may have quieted the trade talk. But Charania wrote that he expects the Timberwolves and Magic to revisit the conversation once Gordon returns.
Either way, the Timberwolves can expect the asking price for Gordon or Collins to be steep. But given the fact the Timberwolves have the league’s worst record heading into the break, Rosas may be more than willing to shake up the roster.
