The San Antonio Spurs have signed free agent small forward Keita Bates-Diop to a two-way contract, the team announced.
Bates-Diop, 24, is 6-foot-8 and was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round (No. 48 overall) in 2018. That came shortly after Bates-Diop had been named Big Ten Player of the Year as a junior at Ohio State.
He was traded by the Timberwolves to the Denver Nuggets in February, then entered free agency following the season.
Bates-Diop appeared in a total of 44 games last year, averaging 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds.
He will wear No. 31 for the Spurs — who failed to make the playoffs for the first time in 21 years.
NBA training camps/individual workouts tip off Tuesday.
