Patrick Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl MVP, is making a significant impact on and off the field.
At just 28 years old, Mahomes is poised to become the youngest athlete billionaire, a testament to his business acumen and strategic planning. As PlayersTV outlined, Mahomes has invested in several notable ventures, including the Kansas City Royals (MLB), Sporting Kansas City (MLS), Miami Pickleball Club (MLP), and KMO Burgers, a Whataburger franchisee.
Only Tom Brady, who retired in 2022, has surpassed Mahomes’ estimated $25 million in endorsement deals among NFL players, according to Forbes. The quarterback’s endorsement portfolio showcases his vast appeal and marketability, with over 15 companies, including Oakley, Adidas, State Farm, Subway, Head & Shoulders, and Hy-Vee partnering with him to promote a diverse range of products.
Mahomes’ latest endeavors include partnerships in the competitive sports drink market. In joining forces with Prime, Mahomes finds himself pitted against Gatorade, a PepsiCo subsidiary.
Yet, Mahomes’ involvement with Prime isn’t his only venture in the crowded drink industry; his move into the coffee industry may prove pivotal in his quest to become the youngest athlete billionaire.
Patrick Mahomes Following Kobe Bryant’s Blueprint
Mahomes has joined forces with industry veteran Michael Fedele as the lead investor in Throne SPORT COFFEE, a venture that could disrupt the vast coffee market. Fedele’s investment strategy with Patrick Mahomes in Throne SPORT COFFEE bears a striking resemblance to his previous collaboration with the late Kobe Bryant and BodyArmor. Fedele’s approach with Bryant and BodyArmor yielded a substantial return on investment. As reported by Forbes, Bryant’s $6 million investment in BodyArmor translated to an estimated $400 million payout when Coca-Cola acquired the company for $5.6 billion in 2021.
While Bryant and Mahomes never met in person, the quarterback fondly recalled the profound impact that the former Lakers great had on his life when asked during Super Bowl week in 2020.
“I wasn’t lucky enough to get to meet Kobe, but the impact that he made in my life, I mean, it was huge – (watching) the way he was able to go about every single day when I was a kid, and the work ethic and the intensity that he had to be great every single day,” Mahomes told the media in Miami after Kobe Bryant’s passing back in 2020.
“Even to this day, I mean, now, I still watch videos on YouTube the day before games and just listen to him talk and how he puts everything in perspective of being great on and off the field with his kids and his business ventures and then obviously his play. I mean, it’s a tragic thing. Prayers to his family. But he made a huge impact on my life for sure.”
Following in Bryant’s footsteps, Mahomes is proving to be business savvy off the court and his latest deals could propel him to billionaire status sooner than later.
