Philadelphia squeaked out a 108-98 win over the Warriors in a game that was closer than it needed to be. The Sixers got out to a terrific start, only to stall in the third quarter and in what could be several players’ final game in a Sixers uniform, the team prevailed.
While rumors continue to swirl about which guys will be traded before Thursday’s deadline, coach Doc Rivers told FortyEightMinutes and other media that there was “no need” to have individual conversations with the players about the rumormill.
Rivers previously said he trusted whatever moves Morey made while reiterating that he liked the team as is if no deals materialized.
More on Philadelphia
- The Heat might be slightly ahead of the Sixers in the Kyle Lowry sweepstakes, though regardless of who he is traded to, the point guard is hoping that there will be an understanding that he’ll receive a new contract after the season. Lowry, who will turn 35 on Thursday, is seeking a two-year, $50 million deal, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer hears.
- Philadelphia and Miami aren’t the only teams in the mix for Lowry, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com writes. The veteran point guard has an open mind with regard to a number of destinations and the Raptors are taking into consideration what the former NBA champion wants when parsing through trades.
- Philadelphia isn’t putting all its eggs in the Lowry basket leading up to the deadline. The organization is exploring other backcourt options, such as Lonzo Ball and George Hill, Woj tweets.
- Malcolm Brogdon could be a fit for the Sixers, though that’s based strictly on my speculation. The Pacers are reportedly listening to offers for Brogdon, as they feel comfortable with Caris LeVert manning the point guard going forward.
- Tony Bradley told FortyEightMinutes and other media after the win that he didn’t even know the trade deadline was this Thursday, adding that many of the teams’ players don’t keep up with all the rumors.
