Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers has heard the James Harden trade rumors, but says not to read too much into them.
“You are not hearing them from us. You know, as long as you don’t hear them from us, you should be very comfortable,” Rivers told reporters after practice Tuesday. “We like our team, man. I tell you that team I just watched out there is really special …”
“And so, those rumors, none are coming from us.”
Harden did finally report to the Rockets for a COVID-19 test after holding out the early part of training camp. He reportedly informed the Rockets that he is willing to expand his wish list of potential trade destinations to more than just the Brooklyn Nets.
One such spot, per ESPN, is Philadelphia. But it doesn’t appear the 76ers want to part ways with either center Joel Embiid or guard/forward Ben Simmons, and without either one of those players, the Rockets likely wouldn’t want to deal.
The Rockets are scheduled to tip off the preseason Friday at Chicago. The Sixers host Boston a week from Tuesday.
