Shabazz Napier has agreed to a one-year deal with BC Zenit Saint Petersburg, according to their Twitter account.
In a EuroHoops.net post, coach Xavi Pascual praised the longtime NBA guard and offered up what he can bring to the table.
“Shabazz Napier is an excellent acquisition for our club, and I am very glad that he chose Zenit to make his first basketball step in Europe,” Pascual said. “Shabazz is the kind of player who leads the team in offense and is very good at making important decisions. With his experience, he is a player who leads a team to create and make important decisions. He is very good at developing a quick offense, has great ball handling and is very versatile.”
Napier has had stints with the Heat, Magic, Trail Blazers, Nets, Timberwolves and Wizards, as he averaged 7.1 points and 2.5 assists in 345 career NBA games.
Prior to that, he led the UConn Huskins to a National Championship victory in 2014, where he was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
