Penny Hardaway is expected to get offers to interview for head coaching opportunities around the NBA, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Teams are currently gathering intel on his work, as he is currently coaching collegiately for Memphis.
The Magic, his former team, are one of several teams that currently have an opening at the head coach spot. Team president Jeff Weltman wouldn’t confirm or deny the Magic’s interest in Hardaway, as our own Rob Parks previously reported.
“I can tell you that I think it’s going to be an attractive destination. But I know it is,” Weltman told FortyEightMinutes while adding that he’s already received calls on the opening.
It would be pretty cool to see Hardaway back in Orlando as their head coach, as he and Shaquille O’Neal formed a dynamic duo down there during the early portion of their careers.
