Aaron Gordon has been rumored to be on the move from Orlando for quite some time and now the power forward has formally requested a trade, Jared Weiss and Sam Amick of The Athletic report.
While the power forward has a long list of suitors, sources tell ESPN’s Zach Lowe that talks between the Rockets and Magic have gotten serious. Houston would send out multiple draft picks are part of the deal.
Victor Oladipo could be part of the mix, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer adds. The two sides have discussed Oladipo as part of a potential Gordon deal, though they may have to find a third team since the guard isn’t going to re-sign in Orlando and they know it.
The Rockets’ plans aren’t entirely clear. On one hand, you’d imagine that acquiring Gordon isn’t a fit, given that the team is a natural candidate to tank/rebuild, though not every franchise wants to go through that whole ordeal. If Houston is looking to be competitive as soon as next season, however, Gordon, who is eligible for an extension this summer, would raise the floor.
The Timberwolves have had interest in Aaron Gordon for quite some time and the Blazers have been linked to him previously. The Celtics and Warriors have also eyed the forward.
