Danny Green‘s inclusion in the Kyle Lowry trade talks played a role in the Sixers holding off on trading for the Raptors guard, Zach Lowe of ESPN.com writes. While the club would have included Green, they didn’t want to add on too much in addition to him, ultimately leading to no trade materializing.
The Sixers clearly value Green and the 33-year-old, who arrived in Philadelphia via the Al Horford deal, was happy that he remained in town at the deadline. Green will be a free agent at the end of the season and it wouldn’t be surprising if the franchise re-signed him (depending on the price tag).
Green is shooting 41.7% from behind the arc for Philly, up from 36.7% in Los Angeles last season and above his career 40.2% mark. The continued play of the former UNC Tarheel will be a major factor in whether the Sixers can reach the NBA Finals for the first time in 20 years.
More NBA Rumors
- Darius Garland recently told reporters that “it’s really fun” to play alongside Collin Sexton. “It’s cool being out there with him and seeing all the stuff that he can do with the ball and even without the ball,” Garland said. “He’s gonna go get it regardless. Anytime we need a bucket, we’re gonna go to him. Like I said, he’s gonna play hard for 48 minutes, he’s gonna do what he do.” Perhaps the two scoring guards can find a way to become a sustainable long-term pairing.
- Gary Trent Jr. has thrived since joining the Raptors and the wing is thrilled with his new home “It’s an amazing fit,” Trent said (via The Toronto Star). “Everybody comes in and works hard, so you know this is the perfect place for me. This is the perfect fit for me.”
- Yogi Ferrell, who played two games for the Cavs earlier this season, is impressing so far during his time with the Clippers, Mirjam Swanson of the Orange County Register writes. Ferrell saw 20 minutes of action in his debut on Wednesday, scoring eight points, though that came with the team opting to rest Reggie Jackson and Rajon Rondo.
