The Knicks acquired Derrick Rose last week, though they may not be done with upgrades on the trade market, Ian Begley of SNY.tv explains.
Begley hears that at least one playoff contender interested in Elfrid Payton, who may be expendable now that Rose is in house.
Payton, who was waived by the team prior to the season before re-signing with the club, has started 25 games for the Knicks so far this year. The former No. 10 overall pick hasn’t been great for New York, however. His assists are down compared to last year (3.7 per game) despite an increase in Usage Rate (19.5 to 22.6) and his player efficient rating sits at a career-low 10.9.
Payton may not be the only guard the Knicks move before the deadline. It was previously reported that Austin Rivers, who inked a deal with the club during the offseason, is also a candidate to be moved.
