The Houston Rockets are trading All-Star guard Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards in exchange for point guard John Wall, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Rockets will also receive a first-round pick in the deal, Woj reported.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported the pick is a 2023 protected first-rounder.
Westbrook requested a trade after one season with the Rockets. Wall reportedly also wanted a trade despite having not played in more than a year because of a ruptured Achilles.
A deal involving Wall and the Wizards has been making rounds on the rumor mill for several weeks.
Westbrook will join shooting guard Bradley Beal, who is coming off a career season and has said he wants to finish his career with the Wizards.
Meanwhile, it’s unknown if Wall will actually join star guard James Harden in the Houston backcourt. Harden reportedly also has been seeking a trade.
“The two GM’s — Washington’s Tommy Sheppard and Houston’s Rafael Stone — hadn’t talked in weeks on the deal, but connected this afternoon and had a deal done within a few hours,” Wojnarowski wrote.
