The Houston Rockets have interviewed former Brooklyn Nets coach Kenny Atkinson for their own vacancy, according to a report from The Athletic.
Atkinson, 53, has been linked to several jobs and the Rockets to multiple candidates, but this has been the first reported meeting between the sides.
Atkinson was fired as Nets coach in March after compiling a 118-190 record in a little more than three seasons.
Meanwhile, the Rockets are looking to replace Mike D’Antoni, who stepped down after four years at the helm.
Along with Atkinson, Los Angeles Clippers assistants Tyronn Lue and Sam Cassell have been linked to the Rockets vacancy, as has Minnesota Timberwolves assistant David Vanterpool and ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy.
Also, it was reported earlier this week that Rockets player development coach John Lucas is an “emerging” candidate.
