Tyler Herro has excelled since the Heat drafted him with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2019 draft and the Sixth Man of the Year Candidate could be on his way to a max contract, as Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report hears.
Some rival executives and agents polled by B/R believe Herro’s next deal may approach his five-year, $184 million maximum. Others have pointed more toward Jaylen Brown‘s recent structure of a four-year, $106 million deal. For context, Fred VanVleet and Lonzo Ball‘s recent four-year, $85 million contracts have set a clear benchmark in the market, where this summer combo guards such as Jalen Brunson and Collin Sexton are said to be seeking salaries north of $20 million.
Herro will be eligible for a rookie-scale extension this summer.
Heat Still Looking To Add Star Power?
The Heat have been connected to several big names over the past few years and according to Fischer (same piece) some around the league believe the team is looking to add a star to it’s core.
If such a player were to come to the Heat, Herro could be on the move since Miami would likely have trouble adding a max player and keeping the former Kentucky Wildcat in town.
Bradley Beal has previously been linked to the Heat, though it’s worth noting that the Wizards shooting guard has given several indications that he’ll re-sign with Washington this upcoming offseason.
