The Knicks are expected to hire Gersson Rosas as a consultant, according to longtime NBA Journalist Marc Stein.
Rosas has a close relationship with Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose, which dates back to their days at CAA.
Rosas was recently the Timberwolves president of basketball operations, but was dismissed due to “performance reasons,” among several other reasons.
Rosas also had a falling out with fellow front-office executive Sachin Gupta, as Rosas denied Gupta from moving on to the Rockets for a similar job but with higher pay. Rosas later banished Gupta from entering team offices back in August, which ultimately allowed him to seek employment elsewhere, but Gupta decided to stay after ownership intervened.
Rosas, who is married, also had a “consensual intimate relationship” with another member of the organization, which made others within the organization uncomfortable.
Karl-Anthony Towns appeared to be taken aback by the news when it was reported back in September.
Towns appears to be happy in Minnesota, as they’re currently in prime position to make the playoffs.
However, one can only wonder if the Knicks intentionally brought Rosas in to try and lure the Piscataway, NJ native back home to play for his favorite team growing up, as KAT will enter unrestricted free agency in 2024, barring an extension.
