Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry denied a report that he’s been “telling everybody” he expects to be traded, as relayed by RealGM.
“The lies people tell in the Media are amazing!!” Lowry wrote on Instagram. “Don’t put thing out when they ain’t come from me!!”
Lowry was responding to remarks from Ryen Rusillo of The Ringer, who indicated Lowry expects a trade from the Raptors to happen prior to the deadline.
In Russillo’s defense, so do a lot of other people. Lowry turns 35 on the same day at the trade deadline, March 25, and is in the final year of a $30.5 million contract.
He has been linked to everyone from the Philadelphia 76ers to Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers. The Heat are among those with reported interest.
Lowry is averaging 18.0 points and 7.0 assists in 29 games this season.
The Raptors (17-19) are currently in the eight spot in the Eastern Conference. They are playing home games in Tampa, Fla., for the rest of the year.
