The Pelicans have acquired guard CJ McCollum from the Trail Blazers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Larry Nance Jr. and Tony Snell are being sent to New Orleans as well.
The Pelicans will send Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomas Satoransky, Didi Louzada, their 2022 first-round pick and two second-round picks to Portland, Wojnarowski adds.
The first-round pick is top 4 protected, so if the pick lands anywhere between 5 and 14, the pick will go to Portland. If the Pelicans land a top 4 pick in this year’s draft, then the pick will convey in the future.
The Pelicans initially offered the Blazers Satoransky, Hart, Jaxson Hayes, Trey Murphy II, 2022 Lakers first-round pick and 2023 Pelicans first-round pick for McCollum, our own Landon Buford reported Monday night.
McCollum will add a steady scoring presence next to Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, as both will benefit from his ability to draw defenders in with his ability to create his own offense.
