The Denver Nuggets have signed fourth-year guard Monte Morris to a contract extension, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Morris, 25, is 6-foot-2 and played an underrated role in the Nuggets’ run to the Western Conference Finals last season. He averaged 9.1 points while shooting a shade less than 50 percent in 19 playoff games.
Per Wojnarowski, the extension is for three years and $27 million.
“Denver lucked out with Morris, drafting him 51st overall back in 2017,” Brandon Ewing wrote. “Morris somehow fell into the Nuggets lap after a tremendous career at Iowa State and has played a key role in the Nuggets success over the past few seasons and has been as steady a backup point guard as you’ll find in the NBA.”
Morris could have been an unrestricted free agent without the extension.
