The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a trade that will send JaVale McGee to the Denver Nuggets, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.
In exchange, the Cavs will receive center Isaiah Hartenstein and two second-round picks, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski added.
Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported those picks are in 2023, protected to No. 46, and an unprotected second-rounder in 2027.
The Nuggets were seeking a “veteran presence inside,” per The Denver Post’s Michael Singer, and McGee certainly fits that bill. He also has also a manageable expiring contract, worth $4.2 million.
McGee, 33, is averaging 8.0 points and 5.2 rebounds in his first season with Cleveland.
Hartenstein, 22, is averaging 3.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 30 appearances. This is his first season with the Nuggets after spending his first two years with the Houston Rockets.
The Cavs had an interest in Hartenstein in the offseason, before he signed a two-year deal with the Nuggets as a free agent.
