The Wizards sent Kyle Kuzma to the Bucks ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline, though before agreeing to acquire former Team USA gold medalist Khris Middleton, the franchise had its sights on obtaining another USA Basketball legend.
Washington reached out to the Suns and offered a package for Kevin Durant centered around Kuzma and multiple draft picks, longtime NBA journalist Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson reports.
Durant has been the subject of recent trade rumors in recent weeks, though he has been assured by Suns ownership that he won’t be traded ahead of the deadline, per Robinson. The Warriors, Mavs, and Rockets were among the teams that have been linked to a Durant trade.
Durant, who has helped USA Basketball land a gold medal in each of the last four Olympics, is one of several suns who have seen their name in trade rumors. Former Wizard Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic are candidates to be moved, though Beal has a no-trade clause (the only player aside from LeBron James who has such power).
