After initially reporting that the Sixers’ preferred outcome would be to keep Ben Simmons through this season, longtime NBA journalist Marc Stein now says that teams around the league are skeptical about that stance.
Stein also reported that the Hawks are in the mix for Simmons, which ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Marc J. Spears also discussed on the Windhorst’s Hoop Collective podcast. Many would think John Collins could head to Philadelphia in that instance, though he may not exactly be who the Sixers are seeking in return for Simmons.
Windhorst and Spears have also heard that the Sixers could attach Tobias Harris to any deal, but opposing teams may not want him given his high salary and down shooting numbers.
The Hawks are said to be more interested in just Simmons than taking on Harris as well.
The Timberwolves have also been in on Simmons, as they’ve offered virtually everybody except Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards to the Sixers, Windhorst suggested on The Scoop w/Doogie podcast, which is hosted by Darren Wolfson.
