While there was plenty of action in Miami over the weekend, the NBA franchise isn’t going to be left out of the fun leading up to the trade deadline. Pat Riley’s club traded for Trevor Ariza last week and it was reported at the time that Miami may not be done dealing.
Miami has their eyes on Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry with Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com confirming previous reports of their interest in the veteran guard. The Heat had discussed a trade centered around Goran Dragic, Kelly Olynyk, and Kendrick Nunn heading to Toronto (or Tampa Bay for the immediate future), though it’s unclear how serious those talks are.
Lowry previously scoffed at the reports of him telling people that he’s likely to be traded and word out of Toronto is that the franchise isn’t looking to deal him just because he’ll be a free agent at the end of the season. The Raptors care about winning this year and Lowry, who will be 35 on Thursday, can still help them do that.
More NBA Trade Rumors
- The Pacers are making Aaron Holiday available, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports. Indiana is looking for a first-round pick in exchange for the former UCLA guard.
- The Bulls are more likely to trade Lauri Markkanen than Thaddeus Young, Windhorst writes in a full piece. We previously reported that some around the league believe Markkanen will be dealt before the deadline.
- The Nets may not be busy leading up to the trade deadline, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic explains. Brooklyn’s lack of draft picks and young players to offer is limiting their ability to trade for help. Still, the buyout market looms as an opportunity for this team.
- The Rockets and Warriors discussed a Victor Oladipo trade, as we previously relayed, though a source tells Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle that talks were simply exploratory. Houston wants James Wiseman or the Timberwolves’ pick from Golden State and trading away either of those is no of interest to the franchise in an Oladipo deal.
