The Hornets are expected to pull Miles Bridges‘ qualifying offer after the news of his pending domestic violence case, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando reports.
Bridges was expected to garner a sizable contract this offseason as he hit restricted free agency, though it’s unclear what his future in the league looks like at this point.
Meanwhile, the Hornets have re-signed Cody Martin to a four-year, $32 million deal. Since being selected in the second round, Martin has progressed each season, earning himself a bigger role in Charlotte’s rotation as time progressed. He could be a bigger part of the team’s rotation next season if the club trades Gordon Hayward, which was previously rumored to be a likely scenario.
More NBA Trade Rumors
- The Raptors have apparently emerged as a suitor for Kevin Durant with Adrian Wojnarowski (reporting on ESPN) indicating that Toronto is a team to watch as the situation unfolds. The franchise holds all of their own future draft picks and Scottie Barnes is the type of blue-chip, young player that would enhance a trade packages for a star. However, it’s not clear at this time whether the team is willing to place Barnes in a trade package for KD. Michael Grange of Sportsnet hears that Durant is at least open to the idea of playing for the Raptors.
- The Pelicans believe they have more than a zero percent chance in the KD sweepstakes. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst hears that the franchise views head coach Willie Green, who was an assistant coach during the Durant-era in Golden State, as an asset in their pursuit. There haven’t been any concrete reports about what New Orleans would offer Brooklyn, though the logical deal would be a package around Brandon Ingram.
- The market for Collin Sexton appears to be dwindling, though the Mavericks are reportedly contemplating making a run at acquiring the former No. 8 overall pick. The Pistons and Wizards were rumored to be interested as free agency began, yet both squads seem unlikely to strike a deal for the combo guard.
- The Celtics’ dealt for Malcolm Brogdon, in part, because they wanted a “true playmaking guard,” Woj explains. The Celtics gave up Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, and a 2023 first-round pick in the trade, though Indiana attempted to acquire Grant Williams (as Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report notes). In the end, the first-rounder was enough of a centerpiece for Indiana.
