It may be the offseason for some teams, but NBA drama will never truly end.
Back in April, Kings big man Marvin Bagley liked a tweet about him possibly leaving Sacramento. He recently appeared on the Halfway Decent Pod to clear the air regarding the situation. Sam Leweck of AHN Fire Digital details Bagley’s appearance on the show.
“That just came from frustration,” he said. “I wouldn’t even say frustration, just that built-up fire. I think I did it after watching Trae [Young] go for 50 in the playoffs, and they’re winning. As a competitor, that just makes me want to get to that and I need to be there. I want to be there bad. I think, doing that, it was just one of those things where the competitor came out in me, like I’ve got to be there. I’ve got to do whatever I’ve got to do to be in this position.”
As any player does, Bagley has a right to be frustrated. His team is composed of some solid young talent, including De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. Bagley’s performance as a former No. 2 pick hasn’t lived up to expectations thus far, but the team around him has also struggled to generate any positive momentum. Heading into the draft and offseason, perhaps the organization can start to turn things around.
