The 2021 NBA free agency period is set to begin Monday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. EST, with the actual signing period set for Aug. 6, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The NBA confirmed the news in announcing that the moratorium will be lifted 12:01 EST Aug. 6, when trades and signings can officially be finalized.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard (player option), Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins (restricted free agent), New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball (RFA) and Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen (RFA) are among some of the bigger names eligible for free agency this offseason. Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, San Antonio Spurs shooting guard DeMar DeRozan, Miami Heat shooting guard Victor Oladipo and Los Angeles Lakers point guard Dennis Schroder will all be unrestricted free agents.
