Rounding up the latest ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft
Ace Bailey stock slipping
Some are drawn to Ace Bailey’s star potential, though there’s a lot of chatter behind the scenes that Ace Bailey is not a serious basketball player and scouts have some concerns over his how he’ll grow as a player.
Bailey was once considered a likely top-3 selection, yet that placement was likely a result of parroting narratives and group think rather than making observations with first-hand information.
Scouting concerns:
- How did Bailey and co-star Dylan Harper only go 15-17 despite being heralded as top talent in the nation?
- Does the losing really effect Bailey’s mentality?
- When will efficient shot selection become a priority for him?
Reminder: It’s not disrespectful to attempt to be accurate in accessing a future of a prospect. Bailey comes off the board at No. 5 with Gary Parrish handing him to the Jazz in CBS’ latest mock draft.
Jazz Trade Rumors
- There have been rumors that the Jazz could end up trading that pick in search of win-now moves. If those rumors are true, Bailey and his rawness of a prospect do not align with Utah.
Latest Wizards Buzz
- There’s more and more talk about the Wizards selecting Jeremiah Fears with the No. 6 overall pick. Fears wasn’t a top 50 ranked player in his high-school class and his outside shot is a major question mark but
- Washington has been rumored to be interested in V.J. Edgecombe as a potential trade target with the Sixers should Daryl Morey trade back from No. 3.
- The Wizards continue to look to trade Jordan Poole, which is nothing new. If Washington is willing to shuffle in salary for Poole rather than expecting any sort of real value in draft compensation, it’s possible that Poole will be on another team next season.
More NBA Draft Rumors
- The Spurs’ No. 14 pick is being reported as obtainable in trade talks with HoopsHype reporting that Harrison Barnes, Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan are also available on the trade market.
- If the Rockets trade for Durant, expect the No. 10 pick, along with one of both of the two future Phoenix first rounders that Houston control, to head back to the Suns in the deal. The Rockets, Heat and Spurs are among the teams that have been linked to the Olympian.
