The Nets were fined $50,000 for allowing Kyrie Irving into the locker room during their 110-107 win over the Knicks Sunday afternoon, per NBA Communications.
Irving, who is still unvaccinated, is now allowed to show up to games at the Barclays Center, but only as a fan, meaning that he’s not allowed to sit with the team on the bench.
Much has been made about the new rules, with many people, including LeBron James, voicing their displeasure about how they feel the new rule makes no sense.
Despite the heat NYC Mayor Eric Adams has been taking for the new rules, he doesn’t seem willing to make an exception for Irving, as he recently called for Irving to get vaccinated.
Optimism is waning on Irving’s ability to play in home games this season, but oddsmakers at PointsBet still have the Nets ranked with the third-best odds (best in the Eastern Conference) to win the championship at +600 this season.
