The NBA is liking its odds for the idea of arenas being full for the 2021-22 season, as relayed by Baxter Holmes of ESPN.
Declining COVID-19 rates and the availability of vaccine are among the reasons why the league is hopeful. Along with that, Holmes reported the NBA’s new partnership with Clear, announced Wednesday, could assist in getting fans back in the buildings. Clear is a health screening company.
Multiple teams are already allowing fans on a limited basis. Some MLB teams are already allowing more than 50 percent capacity in their stadiums. NFL teams are expecting to have full stadiums in the fall as well. NBA commissioner Adam Silver recently said 40 percent of league’s revenue comes from gate receipts.
