Free agent forward Markieff Morris is returning to the Los Angeles Lakers, he announced on his Twitter account.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Morris will return to the Lakers on a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum.
There had been some talk of Morris joining twin brother Marcus Morris with the rival LA Clippers, and Markieff reportedly did give it some thought.
But it’s back to the Lakers for Markieff, after a season in which he won a championship and averaged 5.9 points and 3.0 rebounds in 21 playoff appearances.
Morris signed with the Lakers after spending the first part of the season with the Detroit Pistons.
He joins a frontcourt that includes small forward LeBron James, center Marc Gasol, forward/center Montrezl Harrell, forward Kyle Kuzma and presumably, free agent forward/center Anthony Davis once Davis re-signs.
